Trans Buddies: Trans Buddies NC is a group that supports trans people as they navigate the U.S. healthcare system. We are based in Durham and are happy to offer a listening ear, connect you with local resources, or support you at a scheduled appointment. Click here to request help, get involved, or learn more!
Holiday Support
Trans Santa: Transanta is a mutual aid project that connects anonymous gift-givers with trans youth (24 and under) who are unhoused, in foster care, or otherwise without crucial support they need to thrive.
Triangle LGBTQ Community Meal: Community meal held on Thanksgiving at the Peoples Solidarity Hub in Durham, NC. All ages. Queer people and families with queer kids are welcome.
LGBTQ Center of Raleigh’s Transgiving: Communal meal held near Thanksgiving for LGBTQ people and allies.
Statewide
Trans Lifeline: Trans Lifeline’s Community-Based Crisis Support Resources List. A grassroots hotline and microgrants non-profit organization offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis – for the trans community, by the trans community. Will not call emergency services unless requested.
Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC: Includes a list of all food bank locations & hours of operation in the central & eastern areas of NC. Also able to search by area.
Feed-Well Fridges: Offers free food to the public community fridges in Chatham county. Locations include Siler City, Pittsboro, Chapel Hill, and Goldston.
National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network: Advancing healing justice by transforming mental health for queer and trans Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Provides community resources, a mental health fund for QTBIPOC in need of financial assistance, and a membership program for QTBIPOC & BIPOC community members that offers pathways for connection, political education, leadership development, and collective action.
Triangle Area
COVID Aware Triangle Socials (CATS): @cat_socials on Instagram. Community events and social gatherings in the NC Triangle that prioritize COVID precautions.
Drag Story Hour Triangle: Bringing stories of inclusion and diversity to the Triangle with memorable and upbeat performances.
Mohagany’s Mission: Exists to uplift and support formerly incarcerated transgender women and gender-expansive individuals, as well as those who are still currently incarcerated. Based in Durham, NC.
NC Harm Reduction Coalition: Engages in grassroots advocacy, resource development, coalition building, and direct services. Offers a syringe service program for Wake & Johnston counties, and a needle exchange program for Durham. Great source for naloxone (narcan) and syringes/needles for HRT injection purposes.
Play Fight Move: Trans martial arts coach offering a variety of self-defense teachings & trainings, including twice-monthly free BIPOC-only classes every 1st and 3rd Friday from 5-6pm. DM on Instagram for the location.
Triangle on the Cheap: Free/low-cost deals and events across the Triangle including food & drink, entertainment, activities for kids, museums & attractions, and other general events. Extensive and up-to-date; includes weekend schedules & a full calendar. Maintained by Charlotte-based freelance writer Jody Mace.
Triangle Empowerment Center: Offers a variety of services and programs including support groups, resources specifically for Trans Women of Color, and free in-home STI testing.
Triangle Mask Bloc: Mask distribution collective in the Triangle area.
Triangle Mutual Aid: Grassroots mutual aid network in the Triangle area (Durham, Orange, and Wake counties).
Triangle Pastries for Palestine: 100% of baked good proceeds go towards aid for Palestine.
Triangle Queer Disability Collective: @tqdcollective on Instagram! A collective of disabled queers in the Triangle area. Meets virtually every third Tuesday of the month from 6-7pm.
Triangle Queer Lake Day: @queerlakeday_nc on Instagram! A monthly lake day event in the RTP area that meets from June through September. For any & all queers.
Triangle Radical Events: A communal board & calendar for radical events around the Triangle area.
Triangle Tenant Union: Autonomous tenant union in the Triangle area. Meets every Sunday from 5-7pm in Raleigh (ask for location) with occasional meetings in other cities in the Triangle.
Triangle Zine Collective: @trianglezine on Instagram. A collective for radical zine creation, distribution, and workshops in the Triangle area.
Carrboro & Chapel Hill
Carolina Harm Reduction Union: Student-led harm reduction distribution network serving UNC Chapel Hill and the surrounding community. DM on Instagram for naloxone (narcan) or testing strips.
Community Justice & Abolition Collective (CJAC): A horizontally-run collective agitating against capitalism, colonialism, and the prison-industrial-complex.

Splitgill Carpentry: Queer & trans-owned, registered & insured home renovations company based in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Offers services in a 15 mile radius outside of the downtown Carrboro area.
Community Justice & Abolition Collective (CJAC)’s Weekly Meal Distribution: Hosts a weekly hot meal distribution on Franklin St. at Peace & Justice Plaza every Saturday at 5pm.
Edible Campus UNC: A quarter-acre production garden behind Davis Library filled with forgeable fruits, vegetables, and herbs free for anyone in the community to harvest responsibly.
Food Not Bombs Carrboro: On Instagram as @fnb_carrboro. Aims to share food with the community through free pantries, community fridges, and shared hot meals in Carrboro.
Clayton
The People’s Free Market of Johnston County: Free market & skillshare event that meets across Johnston County, including Clayton. Aims to organize working-class people in rural NC.
Durham
The Burrow / La Madriguera: An all volunteer-run social center in downtown Durham. It is a space to experiment in autonomous self-organizing and experience anti-hierarchical ways of being together.
Comrades in the Commons: On Instagram as @comradesinthecommons. Reoccurring disaster preparedness festival; a local skillshare group.
Durham Art Asylum: A local project with similar political alignment to Project LETS that has an awesome resource/toolkit for building creative psychiatric advance directives.
Durham Fruits: Follow them @durhamfruits on Instagram. A baseball league by & for queer, trans+, and BIPoC community members in Durham. For adults that are 21+.
Durham LGBTQ History: A project that some local trans community members drove the development of through interviews with elders and archival work.
Durham Queer Sports: Free social sports leagues for queer folks in the Triangle area. Offers kickball, soccer, tennis, ultimate frisbee, basketball, volleyball, and paddling.
Durham Trans Ladies Picnic: Follow them on Instagram at @durhamtransladiespicnic! A picnic by & for trans women/femme members of the community that meets a couple times a year in Durham.
LGBTQ Center of Durham: Serves the city & county of Durham. Offers a variety of programs, events, and services, including free COVID tests and food.
Pauli Murray Center: A historic hub for activism and radical hope operating out of the childhood home of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray.
QT Pies: Find them on Instagram at @qtpiesdurham! Sales from homemade pies go to supporting mutual aid and LGBTQ+ organizations in and around Durham.
Queer Death Club: A space for queer & trans folks in the NC Triangle making space for death, dying, and grief. Meets regularly at Arcana in Durham.

Briggs Avenue Community Garden: An urban garden for Durham families to affordably grow healthy food, learn about sustainable agriculture, conserve pollinators, build community, and increase food security. It is open to the public but seeks to attract resource-limited groups.
Durham Community Fridges: Mutual aid project supporting equal access to fresh food for ALL in the community. Offers free food to the public in fridges located at 1902 W. Main St. and 2300 N. Roxboro St.
End Hunger Durham: Aims to support food relief agencies, and those in need of food, with reliable information, collaborations, and advocacy aimed at ending hunger and malnutrition. Provides a list of food pantries and other food resources in Durham.
Feed Durham: Find them on Instagram at @feeddurhamnc. Black Native Queer + Trans-led mutual aid group lovingly preparing food for folks in need. Hosts a community meal every Wednesday at 5pm, and plants seeds & plans afterwards from 6-8:30pm. DM on Instagram for address.

PORCH Durham: Provides supplemental food to Durham children and their families who are facing food insecurity.
Raleigh
LGBT Center of Raleigh: Serves the city of Raleigh and the general Triangle area. Offers a variety of programs, events, and services.
Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub (RUMAH): Point of connection between residents, communities, & mutual aid projects around Raleigh. Provides free resources, hosts social events, community dinners, and more.
Really Really Free Market of Raleigh: A monthly market in Raleigh where everything is always free. Happens every second Sunday from 11am-1pm at Eliza Pool Park.
Stonewall Sports Raleigh: A social sports league for LGBTQ+ community members and allies. Offers 13 different sports.
Triangle Pride Band: An LGBTQ+ and ally community band program for all in the Triangle area. Rehearses weekly at Longleaf School of the Arts in Raleigh. Has varying open registration periods for any & all interested.
Food Not Bombs Raleigh: Aims to share food with the community through free pantries, community fridges, and shared hot meals in Raleigh. Offers vegan food & essentials through a weekly meal distribution every Saturday from 3-4pm in Moore Square in Raleigh.
Meals For the Masses Raleigh: On Instagram as @mftmraleigh. Serves weekly free meals & essentials to workers and those who cannot work. Distributes free food every Sunday from 3-4pm across from Moore Square in Raleigh.
